Silky Leche Flan

Leche Flan is a dessert that I've known all my life. It's a traditional dessert that I grew up with and now that I have a family of my own that dessert familiarity is passed on to my kids. Last night my boys begged us to make their beloved leche flan. We never indulge with the flan for hubby and I are still on a strict Keto diet. However, it is truly rewarding to see our boys devour the flan in minutes 🙂

Leche Flan is a perfect dessert for any occasion. Not only because it's so easy to make but they are also yummy and a perfect sweet end to any meal. We hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we do. 🙂

 10 Eggs (yolks only)
 1 can of Evaporated Milk
 1 can of Condensed Milk
 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
 ¾ cup Red Sugar
 2 tbsp Water

In a pan, place the red sugar along with 2 tbsp of water. Put the pan in the stove and set the fire low.

When the sugar mixture (caramel) is well melted, turn off the heat and pour it into your llanera or mini baking dish. Set this aside as we work on the flan mixture.

Now crack the eggs and separate the whites from the yolks.

Once all the yolks are collected, give it a good mix until it becomes smooth.

Add the evaporated milk to the mixture followed by the condensed milk, and the vanilla extract then mix it very well.

Pour the Flan mixture into the mini baking dishes with caramel.

Cover the baking dishes or llaneras with aluminum foil.

Arrange the baking dishes or llanera in a steamer and steam for 45 minutes.

Cool the flan. Serve and Enjoy!
